2010 Triple S!

15 Jun

The very first Triple S Invitational in 2006 was the first time I ever saw kiteboarding. That year I made it my personal goal to one day be invited. Well this year was my year. Getting invited to the 2010 Triple S was pretty much amazing. I got to ride with the very same people I first saw kiting in 2006.

The wind wasn’t ideal, but we still managed to hit every discipline. When the wind did decide to come, it didn’t hold back. One evening slider session had the boys riding 6m kites and the girls on 4’s and 5’s. Pretty insane, but really fun.

The final results had Brandon Scheid taking 1st for the men and Bruna Kajiya getting 1st for the women. I managed to walk away with 2 trophies (which was pretty cool): 1st in Sliders and 2nd Overall.

Serendipty’s Last Dance?

21 Nov

Serendipity (the famed “Nights in Rodanthe” house) may have had it’s final dance with the Atlantic Ocean last week.

As “The Atlantic Assault” caused no more than rain for some parts of the island, the northern part of Rodanthe didn’t fair so well.

Serendipty playing in the ocean.

When the storm had passed the first 10 houses were left condemned.

No more swimming here.

The dune at Mirlo was completely washed away.

No more need for a walk-over

The pavement north of town was broken leaving us trapped for a few days.

Lots of toys playing in the sand

The road is open again, the houses are still condemned and Serendipty has 10 days to be moved or torn down. Should be interesting to see what happens with that.

Triple S Madness

3 Jun

So the Triple S kicked off this past Saturday and so far it’s been the best one yet. All the pros brought their A games and the wind is cooperating nicely.

The one no wind day we pulled out all the sliders and went wakeboarding. I finally got my handle passes on the flat bar and pro-wakeboarder Barrett Perlman was showing us how it’s done on the new JWCF Mega Rail.

Tuesday was going to be a recovery day until I received a phone call from T.Forman inviting me to ride in the Triple S for the day! It was pretty cool getting to hit the new Mega Rail with all the riders.

It was even cooler when I got home and realized I had a shot on CoreOnlineMagazine.com (thanks Toby).

The best thing to happen to Waves, NC….EVER.

Jason Slezak and Steve Meyers have built a half-pipe.
Half-pipe

I love them!

I had a fun session with Jason the other night. And then last night went over with Claire to teach Magzilla how to skate. Unfortunately the boys were having shred fest ’09 and our ladies skate session never materialized. Next time girls, next time…..

Claire and I managed to get some runs before Magggie came over:
